Happy Freedom Day!
Happy 4th of July weekend! Hope you are all enjoying the freedom’s that we currently have in this wonderful country.
Before I talk more about Steamboat Park I want to take a moment to a moment to remember that there is a deeper purpose for the 4th of July holiday other than hotdogs and fireworks.
We want to remember July 2, 1776, because was when the Continental Congress successfully voted to become independent from Great Brittan. Then the Declaration of Independence was signed on the 4th of July. Both of these events were very significant moments in our American history.
Below is the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, which spells out the fundamental principles of the American government and the inherent liberties each of us have. It’s based on the principle that no one is born to rule or be ruled. The government exists to DEFEND our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and SELF government.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness

As mentioned in previous post I was blessed to spend four days at beautiful Steamboat Lake State Park. Arrived around 1pm on Friday and spent the afternoon on short hikes and just exploring all the things to do at this wonderful playground. If you ever have a chance to go it’s a place to be sure you have some type of watercraft, (motorized or non), bathing suit, a bike, and hiking shoes! You can enjoy the lake and the trails all within the park, however, if you go outside the park even 5 or 10 minutes there are several other peaks and trails to hike and explore!
Saturday morning, I got up early to do the longer hike in the park which was only around 6.5 miles total. It meandered around the lake, through meadows of flowers, along a creek, and open fields. It was just stunning, and again the pictures truly don’t do the actual beauty justice. But I’m going to let the pictures tell the story. That night they had the fireworks over the lake, which were great!
One of the personal things that I’m trying to work on is to get outside to hike, bike, or kayak every single day. Over the next few days, I’ll share how am working on this goal and maybe some tips that might help you get outside more too!
For me, the outdoors feeds my mind, body, and soul. I’m so blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places, that on some days, even though I see it every day still takes my breath away. I mean how many pictures of the same mountain and lake can I take?!!! 😊 But I consider myself truly blessed to be able to live in what I call paradise on earth.
