LISTEN TO TODAY’S READING
PROVERBS 3:1-12
My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
PROVERBS 3:1-12 CATHY’S THOUGHTS
IF WE DO THIS:
- Do not forget this teaching
- Keep this message/His commands close to our hearts
- Make love a part of who we are
- Make faithfulness part of our character
- Trust in the Lord with all of your heart
- Lean not on your own understanding
- Submit everything to the Lord
- Do not think we are wise without God
- Fear the Lord (a reverent fear)
- Run from evil
- Honor the Lord with what He has given us
- Give a portion back to God (it’s His anyway)
- Don’t resent it when God corrects or disciplines us
WE WILL HAVE THIS
- Longer life
- We will have peace
- We will have prosperity
- Win favor with God and man
- Win have a good name with God and man
- Our paths will be made straight (the Lord will guide us)
- Health to our bodies
- Nourishment to our bones (to our soul)
- We will have abundance and overflow (God will provide everything we need)
- New wine (filled with the holy spirit)
- God loves us (even regardless of what we do)
