Dakota’s

I realized again that I need to be more intentional about taking pictures. To be honest sometimes it hard because there is so much that I’m seeing that it all could not be captured. Enjoyed the beautiful landscaping and country roads.

One of the places I went by was Lake Oahe. Lake Oahe is a large reservoir behind Oahe Dam on the Missouri River; it begins in central South Dakota and continues north into North Dakota in the United States. The lake has an area of 370,000 acres (1,500 km ) and a maximum depth of 205 ft (62 m By volume, it is the fourth-largest reservoir in the US.[1] Lake Oahe has a length of approximately 231 mi (372 km) and has a shoreline of 2,250 mi (3,620 km).[1] 51 recreation areas are located along Lake Oahe,[3] and 1.5 million people visit the reservoir every year.

Ended up at a beautiful park called Grahams Island Park and ended up staying a few days because it was so quiet and really pretty. Grahams Island State Park is located on the ever-changing shores of Devils Lake. This hidden treasure is heavily wooded and surrounded by miles of lakeshore.  Campers will enjoy the large, shaded campsites, in one of the only non-seasonal campgrounds in the area.

Crossing over to the Island…

The lake at the park, walking trails along the lake, and my camping spot

The unique landscape of the lake makes it a hot spot for world-class fishing. The park hosts numerous national and regional fishing tournaments during the year. Grahams Island caters to anglers with an array of resources including a bait shop, a four-lane boat ramp and a fish cleaning station.

Visitors can enjoy a day on the lake, take a stroll on the hiking trails, swimming at the beach or hang out at the visitor’s center. In the winter, visitors can explore over three miles of groomed cross-country ski trails, explore the park on snowshoes and have excellent access to the lake for ice fishing activities.
